Remember my old blog? This is the new one.

What a busy, happy weekend! Saturday Pete had SATs in the morning (well, OK, that part wasn't so happy!), while we drove Julie to her sculpting class at the MFA, then on to Wheelock to pick up Steph, who is already done with her freshman year! Pete then had to get ready for the junior semi-formal at the Seaport Hotel. Some friends in the neighborhood hosted a photo hour in their yard for about 30 of the kids beforehand, and luckily it was pretty much the only hour that didn't rain all week. While Pete was at his party, I went to a mini camp reunion and spent several fun hours with some people I've know for, oh, about 40 years! We talked sports and politics, we caught up on each other's jobs and kids, we reminisced about our crazy days off and nights out as counselors back in the day, we figured out how to make the type size on our iPhones larger (I might have shouted, "It's a miracle!"), and all in all we just had such a nice time being in each other's company.

On Sunday I was treated to breakfast in bed by Steph, Julie, and Andy, and then I got to have my tea in peace amid the pillows while I solved the Sunday Times crossword puzzle in record time. We finally saw Pete in the afternoon (he had been at a sleepover post-party at another friend's house), when we all met at up Jo's for a lovely Mother's Day brunch. Some cousins made a surprise appearance, and the sun even came out, albeit briefly. Then, to cap it all off, before bed I learned that I had become a great-aunt (as opposed to just a great aunt, which I've been for a long time now) as my nephew and his wife welcomed a baby girl to the family!

Here I am with my three reasons for celebrating Mother's Day:

Mothersday

For those who aren't on FB, I captioned it: "Look at these amazing kids I made out of stuff I had just lying around!" Honestly, that's how I feel sometimes when I look at them!
